Invariably Vampires

One of the things I like best about vampires in works of fiction is that they are almost always bad, always have at least the one same drive, and usually one or more of the same weaknesses. In other words, you do not have to learn much about the characters - the story is all in the plot.

Welcome to our new vampire blogs

I just noticed another blog about vampires was born today, the same day as this one. Well, it was born in the morning - this one at night. But close enough!

The name of the senior weblog to this one is Lair of the Vampire.

Here is its opening post: Welcome to Our New Vampire Blog!.

Catchy saying.

Dear John: Thanks so much for mentioning our new blog, and congrats on the birth of yours. Lora and I will be adding more links to the blog ASAP. Actually, I'm in a steep learning curve with all the computer stuff and was happy to be able to figure out which photos would load into blogger and which wouldn't!

Thanks to you for posting a comment in mine.

I did not think I would be seeing any comments here for at least a couple of months. Kind of a pleasant surprise to see one the first weekend I created it.

I have a blog about having a blog. No worry that it is self referential ("...and now I am typing about, typing about, typing about..."). It is more on things you need to know to be able to blog.

Just what that is exactly seems to keep changing.

This weekend I learned that Google and Microsoft are in the process of simplifying the process of writing and/or designing a weblog.

Microsoft is introducing a free MS-Windows program called Windows Live Writer for bloggers to use. It has a WYSIWYG editor, kind of like Microsoft Word. It appears to include twists and simplifications that make it especially well-suited for bloggers. Plus, it works with lots of the standrd blogging services.

Blogspot just announced a beta test of their new version of Blogger. It will include easier to create look-and-feels for blogs. Rather than needing to pick a prewritten Theme and contend with making any changes to it by editing the CSS/HTML/tags inside it - one will be able to customize themes by drag-and-drop. It should be far easier to use than the current arrangement.

I know CSS and HTML/XHTML and even I find it trying/tiresome to customize the template for the theme of my blogs on here.

Anyway, the name of my site about blogging is Bloginations.

Kind of rhymes with Hallucinations and Ruminations, although I am sure that is strictly a coincidence.
